Sir/Madam Kind attention is invited to Board's order F. No. 278A/21/2015-Legal dated 9.6.2016 (copy available on CBEC website), wherein a panel of 251 Senior/Junior Standing Counsels had been drawn for a period of three years w.e.f 9.6.2016 to 8.6.2019 for handling CBEC cases of Indirect taxation before the various High Courts and other fora. Subsequently, Board vide order F. No. 278A/21/2015-Legal dated 18.6.2016 read with Note dated 22.6.2016 (copy available on CBEC website), wherein, with the approval of Competent Authority, the order in r/o 111 Counsels, who were on the panel as on 14.10.2014 and who were included in the order dated 9.6.2016 was rescinded/cancelled. 2. Further, in continuation of Board's order dated 09.06.2016 and 18.06.2016 read with Note dated 22.06.2016, an exercise was initiated vide Board's letter F. No. 278A/33/2016-Legaldated 24.06.2016 and 01.08.2016 for filling up vacant post/existing slots. Accordingly, vide Board's order of even number dated 05.10.2017 (copy available on CBEC website), a panel of 120 Sr./Jr. Standing Counsels has been drawn for period w.e.f. 03.10.2017 to 08.06.2019 for handling CBEC cases of Indirect taxation before the various High Courts and other fora. 3. In this regard, it is mentioned that those Sr./Jr. Standing Counsels, who were appointed vide order dated 09.06.2016 and not rescinded vide Board order dated 18.06.2016 read with Note dated 22.06.2016 will remain on CBEC panel for a period upto 08.06.2019. Further, it is also mentioned that Sr./Jr. Standing Counsels, who were appointed vide order dated 05.10.2017 will also remain on the CBEC panel for a period upto 08.06.2019 for handling CBEC cases of Indirect taxation before the various High Courts and other fora.
