Appointment of Customs Officers — Supersession of Notification No. 58/92-Cus. Notification No. 30/97-Cus. (N.T.), dated 7-7-1997 In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 4 of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962) and in supersession of the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) No. 58/92-Customs (N.T.), dated 31st July, 1992, the Central Government hereby appoints, - (a) The officers specified below to be Commissioner of Customs within their respective jurisdictions, namely:- (1) (i) Director General of Revenue Intelligence, New Delhi; and (ii) the Director General of Inspection, Customs and Central Excise, New Delhi, whose jurisdiction shall extend to the whole of India; (2) the Commissioners of Central Excise within their respective jurisdiction as specified under rule 2 of the Central Excise Rules, 1944. (b) the Deputy Commissioners posted under the Commissioners specified in item (2) of clause (a) to be the Deputy Commissioners of Customs within their respective jurisdictions; (c) the Assistant Commissioners posted under the Commissioners specified in item (2) of clause (a) to be the Assistant Commissioners of Customs within their respective jurisdictions.
