Import by post by 100% EOUs - Recommendation for ad-hoc exemption F. No. 305/19/86-FTT, dated 22-9-1987. Government of India, Ministry of Finance, Department of Revenue, Central Board of Excise & Customs, New Delhi. The undersigned is directed to say that the question of allowing duty free import by post to 100% EOUs under notification No. 13/81-Customs dated 9.2.81 has been under consideration of the Board for some time. The matter was referred to the Ministry of Law. The Ministry of Law has expressed the opinion that goods imported by post shall not be eligible to exemption under the aforesaid notification. 1. In view of the above, it has been decided that specific cases of this nature can be taken up for ad-hoc exemption. I have therefore, been directed to request that you may recommend cases of import by post by 100% EOUs for ad-hoc exemption with full details. If there is any pending request in this regard, the same may please be reported with necessary details.
