Circular No. 90/2003 October 13, 2003 F.No.450/35/2002-Cus.IV Government of India Ministry of Finance Department of Revenue Central Board of Excise and Customs Subject: Compulsory Quality Control & Pre-shipment Inspection of Honey- Reference from Export Inspection Council of India (EICI)-reg issued I am directed to invite your attention to Board’s instruction, dated 31.7.2002, on the above mentioned subject, wherein it was stated that the export of honey is to be allowed only against a “Certificate of inspection ” issued by an Export Inspection Agency established under the Export (Quality Control and Inspection ) Act, 1963. F.No.450/35/2002-Cus.IV, from 2. Now, the Export Inspection Council of India has brought to the notice of the Board that honey valued at around Rs 100 Crores is being exported out of the country per year. Out of this, only a couple of processors/exporters had obtained the requisite ‘ Certificate of export worthiness’ for their export consignments valued at less than Rs 1( one the past year. Hence, most of the exports consignments of honey during the past year had been made without obtaining the necessary ‘Certificate of export worthiness’ from any of the notified Export Inspection Agencies (EIAs). ) crores during In of view 3. all concerned are required to ensure that all export consignments of honey are accompanied with the valid “ Certificate of Export” issued by any of the notified Export Inspection Agencies.
